Subsequent scenes entail Nev and Jem having a Las Vegas style wedding as Elvis and Priscilla, while Harvey becomes a firebrand political leader or agitator. After Skylab whooshes past close above the house, in Act Two the characters get the ability to make their dreams come true, thereby moving the performance into a more fantastic mode. These are the evocative themes which Reynolds-Diarra and director Kyle Morrison have to work with, and while the script has undergone considerable dramaturgical development since appearing at the 2015 Yellamundie National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Playwriting Festival, the current version from Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company and Black Swan State Theatre Company is still something of a shaggy dog.Īct One is largely played straight, in a naturalistic manner, presenting the audience with the domestic dramas of roustabout and small farm owner Nev (Alan Little), his partner Jem (Laila Bano Rind), their three children (Eva Bartlett, Donnathia Gentle and Jacob Narkle), and their uncle Harvey (Gary Cooper) – the last of whom lives in a corrugated iron shed out the back. ![]() Reynolds-Diarra’s decision to cast her skyward-gazing protagonists as a financially challenged Indigenous family further opens up rich possibilities for reading the descent of Skylab as a metaphor for the Australian colonial experience and the Aborigines’ points of view. Skylab stories still make for a good yarn today, and the topic has all the makings of a great piece of theatre. Swipe left to mark as completed (or "read" in typical email jargon) and swipe right to set a reminder for that message on a later date. One of the limitations of Mail Pilot’s interface in this regard is that you can only set a reminder for 1-5 days from now (or 1-7 on iPad). You can't set one for even longer in the future, or for a specific time. ![]() For example, I can't get an email in the morning and set it to remind me about that email that evening. This is some thing that other apps like Outlook and Mailbox give you more freedom to do, and I do miss it in a mail Pilot. Additionally, if I want to set a reminder for more than 4 days, I have to move over to their Mac app. Mail Pilot treats your email more like tasks than messages. You don't mark emails "read", you mark them "completed". And if you think about your inbox as a list of things you need to get done today, then it doesn't matter what time messages appear. Your Today View in OmniFocus shows you everything for the day, even things that aren't supposed to happen until later. The goal is to get your inbox clear by the time you go to sleep. Once I was able to convert to this style of thinking, I came to peace with this system (although I have to admit that I would welcome time-specific reminders in a future update). In addition to a nice email triage experience, Mail Pilot also brags about their use of the z-axis for navigating around the app. The basic concept is that every screen is always there, and you can swipe one screen out of the way to get at the screen below. I like this concept quite a bit, but the implementation is a little off for me. Let's take an example, if I'm in my inbox and want to go back to my list of folders, I have to swipe down from the very top of the screen. While this may not have been a problem on the iPhone 5S and earlier, it's a challenge on the iPhone 6. This makes Mail Pilot a two-handed app if you have one of the latest iPhones. I don't know exactly how they could do it, but a horizontal implementation of this same concept would be a welcome change.ĭespite my minor frustration, I still enjoy Mail Pilot’s navigation. I always feel like I can get where I need to go quickly, and I'm never confused about how to get there.įor a more detailed look at the navigation concept, Mindsense has a blog post explining the thinking behind it. I don't send a ton of email, but when I do, I'm almost certainly attaching at least one file. And the frame size is taller than the 5-perf, which is the general presentation ratio. Partly it’s a fall-back position, if we need them we know we’ve always got that.ī&a: Speaking of IMAX, how did the IMAX side of the shoot impact on your work?Īndrew Jackson: The resolution is higher, we’re working at 6-and-a-half K, so everything is done in higher resolution. There is one shot in particular, and it’s there in an IMAX frame, which is taller than the majority of the 5-perf presentation, where there are two full-CG helicopters really close to camera. I guess that would be an example where on another film you might assume that there would be much more CG work there, but it ended up really being largely in-camera. So really, the majority of the shots involving those Chinooks were real. We had four of them, re-painted them in the colors that we wanted and they carried real shipping containers around. But really, the vast majority of that ended up being the full-size Chinooks. We did film those, and we also did a couple of shots with CG Chinooks. We had Scott Fisher’s SFX department build miniatures that were great. ![]() It was actually a really sensible solution.ī&a: Were there other sequences in the film that perhaps ended up using something full-scale and practical that you might have thought would be miniatures or digital work?Īndrew Jackson: There’s a lot of Chinook action in the film towards the end, and we did approach that in various ways. It turns out that it was actually not a crazy expensive way of doing it, it was actually a really practical solution to buy an old wreck of a plane and go to the place where the plane was to film it. The place where we went had all the infrastructure for driving planes around. So, we didn’t have to move the plane anywhere. We cleaned it all up and then built a set there. So we bought an old plane that was never going to be used for anything else. But because of the way we arranged it-we went to the Victorville aeroplane graveyard where old planes go, like a wrecking yard. ![]() I mean, it’s a big shot to do a full CG plane and building destruction. But I think Chris actually came to the conclusion that it was probably not necessarily a lot more expensive to do practically. Pictures.ī&a: But I’m curious, did you go down the route of maybe considering that it could be a miniature shot, or a CG shot?Īndrew Jackson: Early on, we did look at those options. It really epitomizes literally how high that priority is to get everything in-camera. It was full-size 747 smashing into a set-built building, and all of the flames, all the collapsing, the jet bridge- everything is practical in-camera. The only effects work was some cable removals and there was a little bit of clean-up. That plane crashing into a building and exploding is almost all in-camera. What was involved with actually crashing a 747?Īndrew Jackson: I think that’s the best example of the lengths we go to with Chris’ films to do things practically. We do put an enormous amount of effort into finding ways of filming practical effects or miniatures or elements.ī&a: The plane sequence seems to highlight that the best. Obviously, we can pretty much do anything with CG these days if we absolutely need to but that will always be the last resort with Chris. A CG element comp’d into a practical background would be the third. Starting with full 100% in-camera effects, and then if we can’t achieve that, then maybe a 2D comp of filmed elements would be the second best option. There’s a sort of hierarchy of preference for him. But actually in the case of Chris Nolan’s films, he really, really does try and do that, doesn’t he?Īndrew Jackson: Yeah, absolutely. Jackson, who also worked on Nolan’s Dunkirk, and previously on Mad Max: Fury Road, was on board Tenet from the very early stages to research efforts for the way that certain shots could be brought to life, whether they be practical or with some digital intervention from DNEG, or both.ī&a: Sometimes, in other films, the filmmakers talk about using a lot of practical effects. To find out just how some of the biggest scenes, including the plane shot, a car crash, reversing bullets, a collapsing building, helicopters and a number of other forwards and backwards time moments were carried out, befores & afters spoke to visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson, from DNEG. ![]() You can free download Free Movie Subtitler and safe install the latest trial or new full version for Windows 10 (x32, 64 bit, 86) from the official site. subtitles work now on any player that the video file can be playback,. ![]() no more problems with loose mi files for subtitles,.srt files more need and that your DVD-player also does not need to support nevertheless always without problems the subtitles to display.įree Movie Subtitler has the following characteristics: The advantage of this is that you don't loose.
